Some customers recently asked us why our coated steel material for greenhouse cultivation gutters looks different from others. Here are a few key points from our technical discussion.
Q1: What is different about this special coating?
Greenhouses are often high-temperature, high-humidity environments, and the gutter surface may also face fertilizer, water, cleaning agents and slightly acidic conditions. That is why we use a dual protection strategy:
- Coating thickness
- Zinc layer protection
Both layers are important. Our goal is to improve coating protection and zinc layer protection together, instead of relying on only one side of the material.
Q2: Why does coating performance matter during manufacturing?
Greenhouse cultivation gutters are formed through roll forming.
During on-site or project-based roll forming, the gutter surface has direct contact with metal rollers. If the coating thickness, adhesion or surface smoothness is not sufficient, the surface may be scratched or damaged before installation. For Chanscen, visible coating damage before installation is not acceptable. A good gutter material should not only look good after coating. It should also survive the forming process and remain reliable after installation.
Q3: How was the material developed and validated?
- Our validation includes two parts.
First, laboratory testing, including SGS testing/certification reports, hydrogen peroxide resistance testing, salt spray testing and light aging testing.
- Real project application.
This material has been used in greenhouse projects in different regions, including Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Yunnan, with more than two years of field application. Based on our on-site inspections, no abnormal coating issues have been observed.
Q4: Is this a standard coated sheet from another industry?
No. This material is specially selected and designed for greenhouse cultivation gutter systems.
The greenhouse environment, roll forming process, drainage requirements and long-term exposure conditions are different from many ordinary industrial applications.
